First thing is first, I’m writing this post in honor of my first nephew; who was born just a week ago. I analyzed all the baby nursery trends and ideas in the world to inspire me and my sister to design the most peaceful, bright and beautiful baby’s room. Please keep reading to see how we did it.
So of course, the first thing that comes to your mind when you are talking about a baby’s nursery is to think about gender and matching colors, but today’s trends on baby’s rooms and fashion are everything but that.
Actually, the latest baby nursery trends make them barely look like nurseries, which is perfect because they are neutral enough for a boy or a girl, and also make the right ambient for them to grow in.
There are many ideas out there that are trendy on this subject, however, we picked 4 of them and blend them into Luca’s room. Let’s see now how it turned out:
1. Bright, white and clean:
Well, lucky for us this trend was perfect since the room was so small, white walls all over, (we even painted the closets doors) and white furniture bring light in and creates the sensation of a bigger space. Is the perfect canvas to start building layer by layer with details and accessories.
2. Unexpected black
You must be thinking: black? for a baby?. Well yes! is super trendy; even on baby’s fashion and clothes, if you check the Pinterest board below you will probably find examples of nurseries with a lot of black elements, like cribs, furniture, textiles…
We decided to use it a little less tough, to balance and create some contrast. You can find it on the geometric decals on the wall, the frames and some cushions and accessories. I love this trends is so sophisticated and out of the box for this type of space.
3. The Animal Kingdom
Well, animals and baby animals have been a huge trend for kids for years, so we can safely say is timeless now. Some trendy applications are stuffed animals heads on the walls, on the textiles or how we actually applied it in this project: some stuff animals on the top of the shelf and geometric graphics of animals framed over the crib.
4. Pinch of yellow
So this one was inspired by a interior design trend that you can check on here. Some little details such as a pillow, a fine line on the bed sheets, some on the graphics in the frames and the “L” for Luca gives a joyful touch to the room, and contrast perfectly with the black and grey.
5. Scandinavian design furniture
This one was more of a choice. Since the intention was a clean, bright and minimalist room, the simple white crib and drawer, were the perfect match for the concept. And the iconic RAR rocking chair (design by Charles and Ray Eames) is the focal point.
We loved the result, and I know Luca will love it as well.
